Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real 11

This was a week full of frenetic activity.   I don't like rushing around, so it was nice to wake up to....

Pretty

The front of our house, with a new birdhouse (view as you get the morning paper).

Happy

"Wasabi" painted "Alleluia's" toes last night while babysitting.

Funny

I don't know why I persist in hanging this note on my front door--it doesn't stop random people from knocking on the door at naptime.  But something about the sunbleached, rainsoaked wrinkly-ness of it (plus the fact that it isn't even straight) should warn visitors of just how exhausted the homeowner may be!

Real

Oak branch, warts and all.

Random stuff picked up on just one walk around the block.

These are tiny!  Maybe I'll use as counters for a Montessori work?  Or just as decoration.
Does anyone else love tiny little bright green acorns with their hats still on?

  1. Reminds me of a poem that I memorized for school as a child:

Don't worry if your job is small,
    And your rewards are few.
    Remember that the mighty oak,
Was once a nut like you.

  2. Nothing made me cry faster as a new mom than the combination of the UPS man and an overenthusiastic beagle. I feel your nap time knock pain! :-)

I love the little green acorns. I vote for decoration- maybe with a candle nestled in them?
